KENNEWICK, Wash. - Jarrett Toll's short-handed goal with 11 seconds remaining in the second period proved to be the game-winner as the Tri-City Americans held off the Prince George Cougars 3-2 on Friday night at Toyota Center.
Toll gloved the puck out of the air in the Cougars' end, skated into the slot and beat Prince George goalie Real Cyr to give the Americans a 3-1 lead.
Prince George's Patrik Magnusson, who had both goals for the Cougars, scored his second of the night 3 minutes into the third period, but the Cougars (9-16-0-0) were not able to even things up.
Colton Yellow Horn and Kruise Reddick also scored for the Americans (16-5-0-0), who got 18 saves from rookie Kyle Birch. Cyr was impressive in goal, stopping 44 of 47 shots for the Cougars, who have lost seven straight.
