DETROIT -The Detroit Red Wings today recalled goaltender
Jared Coreau
from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.

Coreau, 26, has made 25 AHL appearances with the Griffins in his fifth professional season, posting a 12-9-2 record with a 2.77 goals-against average and a 0.906 save percentage. He saw a season-best six-game point streak (5-0-1) snapped after a 2-0 loss to the Chicago Wolves last night, but he has posted a 2.10 goals-against average and 0.928 save percentage in his last seven games played. The Perth, Ontario, native saw his first taste of NHL action with the Red Wings during the 2016-17 campaign, making his NHL debut on Dec. 3, 2016 at Pittsburgh, winning his first game on Dec. 23, 2016 at Florida and posting his first shutout on Jan. 5, 2017 at Los Angeles. Coreau totaled a 5-4-3 record with a 3.46 goals-against average, a 0.887 save percentage and two shutouts for the Red Wings. He also helped the Griffins capture their second AHL Calder Cup championship in five seasons after registering a 19-11-3 regular-season record with a 2.33 goals-against average and 0.917 save percentage in addition to a 15-4 postseason record alongside a 2.84 goals-against average and a 0.909 save percentage.
Originally signed by the Red Wings as an undrafted free agent in April 2013, Coreau has appeared in 135 games for Grand Rapids since 2013-14, sporting a 76-47-8 record, 2.48 goals-against average, 0.917 save percentage and 11 shutouts. He also has a 17-6 all-time playoff record with a 2.74 goals-against average and 0.914 save percentage. Prior to his professional career, the 6-foot-6, 220-lb., netminder spent three seasons at Northern Michigan University in the CCHA. In 76 games from 2010-13, Coreau logged a 32-31-8 record, 2.72 goals-against average, 0.919 save percentage and two shutouts.
