Janks and Valliquette each score twice as Plymouth tops Owen Sound 6-4

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - With a period to go, it looked like another defeat for the Plymouth Whalers.

But Brett Valliquette scored twice in a four-goal third-period outburst as Plymouth earned its first win of the season, 6-4 over the Owen Sound Attack in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday.

Valliquette scored the winner at 17:13 of the third before adding an empty-netter in the final minute of play for his first two goals of the season.

A.J. Janks scored twice while Wes Cunningham and Andrew Fournier added goals for Plymouth (1-2-1).

Scott Tregunna, Marco Franchini, Jordan Davis and Lane MacDermid replied for Owen Sound (1-5-0).
