Jamie Crooks leads Victoria Royals over Prince George Cougars 6-5

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Jamie Crooks scored a hat trick Saturday as the Victoria Royals hung on to beat the Prince George Cougars 6-5 in the Western Hockey League.

Kevin Sundher added a goal and an assist for Victoria (3-1-0), while Kade Pilton and Hayden Rintoul each scored and chipped in with an assist.

Logan Nelson added three assist of his own for the Royals, who led 5-0 early in the second period.

Greg Fraser and Nick Buonassisi each had a goal and an assist for Prince George (1-1-1), while Charles Inglis, Jake Mykitiuk and Troy Bourke also scored.

Braden Gamble made 25 saves in the victory. Drew Owsley was pulled from Prince George net after allowing three goals on six shots in the first.

Devon Fordyce made 20 saves in relief.
