Jake-Muzzin 4-15

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin and Vegas Golden Knights forward David Perron could return in Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round at Staples Center on Sunday (10:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVAS, FS-W, ATTSN-RM).
The Golden Knights lead the best-of-7 series 2-0.

If Muzzin plays, the Kings will have their top two defensemen back, with Drew Doughty returning after serving a one-game suspension for an illegal check to the head on forward William Carrier in Game 1.
If Perron plays, the Golden Knights will have their top playmaker back. Perron led Vegas with 50 assists in the regular season.

Muzzin, who missed the past seven games with an upper-body injury, was paired with Doughty at the morning skate.
"I think he's going to be a game-time decision," Kings coach John Stevens said. "We were just joking that Muzzin is begging to stop getting the conditioning skate every day, so he thought he'd get in the regular rotation today. But he's worked really hard. I think he's close, so we'll see."
Muzzin said he had passed a series of tests to be cleared for contact.
"It's been a long time," Muzzin said. "I'm excited. It's tough to watch."
Muzzin averaged 21:39 of ice time in the regular season and had 42 points (eight goals, 34 assists) in 74 games.

Doughty led the NHL with an average of 26:50 of ice time in the regular season, and had 60 points (10 goals, 50 assists) in 82 games. He played 28:02 in Game 1 and had six shot attempts and six blocked shots.
"[Muzzin] has been the No. 2 defenseman on our team for a long time and is a big part of the team," Doughty said. "We have a different look when he's on the ice, so definitely happy to have him back. As for me, I'm just eager to get out there and make a difference in the game."
The Kings also reunited the lines of Alex Iaffalo, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown, and Tanner Pearson, Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli, at the morning skate. Los Angeles has scored one goal in 155:23 in the series, none at even strength.
"We need more offense; we know that," Stevens said. "We need more zone time; we know that. I think just in general our whole game has just got to take a step here."
Perron, who missed the past eight games with an upper-body injury, skated on the left wing with center Cody Eakin and right wing Ryan Carpenter at the morning skate.
Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said he still had to speak to the trainers.
"There's a chance he might play," Gallant said.

Perron had 66 points (16 goals, 50 assists) in 70 games in the regular season. If he plays, forward Tomas Tatar likely will be scratched. He stayed out with the extras at the end of the morning skate.
The Golden Knights traded a first-, second- and third-round pick to the Detroit Red Wings for Tatar on Feb 26. He had six points (four goals, two assists) in 20 games in the regular season and has none in the series.
"I'm feeling pretty good, so see later today how it goes," Perron said. "It's obviously exciting whenever I'm going to get back in. It's the right time of year. It's fun to play at this time."
