Jacquemet's hat trick powers Kootenay to 8-2 rout of Everett @NHLdotcom

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Arnaud Jacquemet registered a hat trick and defencemen Chad Greenan had three assists as the Kootenay Ice rolled over the Everett Silvertips 8-2 in WHL action Friday night.

The Silvertips opened the scoring on the power play nine minutes into the game when Dane Crowley, who scored both Everett goals, wired a wrist shot past Ice goaltender Kris Lazaruk for his sixth of the season.

Jacquemet tied it with his sixth on the season with a nice deflection from a Greenan point shot at 13:31 of the first period.

In the second period, Kootenay scored two goals within 1:40 by Matt Fraser, with his third, and Jacquemet with his second of the night, to give the Ice a 3-1 lead.

Crowley scored his second of the night from another wrist shot from the point to cut the lead to 3-2 at 17:48 only to have Andrew Bailey bat out of the air and past Silvertip goaltender Shayne Barrie to give the Ice a 4-2 second period lead.

The Ice would continue the rout into the third period with four straight goals by Michael Stickland, Dustin Sylvester, Steve Da Silva and Jacquemet, who completed the hat-trick, to make the final 8-2.

Kris Lazaruk stopped 19 of 21 shots to take the win while Shayne Barrie stopped 31 of a 39-shot barrage by the Ice.
