Jackets to honor Hitchcock prior to Thursday's Game

The Columbus Blue Jackets will honor Head Coach Ken Hitchcock in a pre-game ceremony Thursday in recognition of him becoming the 13th coach in National Hockey League history to record 500 wins.

 

Prior to opening face-off of Blue Jackets-Penguins game at approximately 7:05 p.m., Blue Jackets Majority Owner/Governor John P. McConnell will be joined on the ice in front of the Blue Jackets' bench by General Manager Scott Howson and Pat Burns, Stanley Cup winning coach and member of 500-wins club. McConnell, Howson and Burns will help recognize Hitchcock's accomplishments.

Ken Hitchcock became the 13th coach in NHL history to record 500 wins on Feb. 19, 2009 in a 4-3 shootout win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre. He has compiled a record of 504-341-123 in 968 games with the Blue Jackets, Philadelphia Flyers and Dallas Stars. He led the Stars to the 1999 Stanley Cup championship.
