PORTLAND, Ore. - Chris Bruton, Jared Spurgeon and Drayson Bowman all had a goal and an assist to lead the Spokane Chiefs to a 5-4 shootout win over the Portland Winterhawks in Western Hockey League play on Sunday night.
Portland used a two goal surge near the end of the third period to force the overtime. Jacob Dietrich scored at 18:13 with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, Kevin Undershute then scored a power-play goal, also with the goalie pulled at 19:42, to make the game exciting.
Chris Langkow had the other goal for Spokane (24-5-1-2), while David Rutherford added two assists. Jace Coyle had the only goal in the shootout.
Chris Francis and Luke Walker also scored for Portland (5-25-0-1).
Chief goalie Dustin Tokarski (13-2-1) made 25 saves, including all three in the shootout for the win, while Kurtis Mucha stopped 47 shots, with two more in the shootout, to fall to 4-15-1 on the season.
