SHORT HILLS, N.J. - With an afternoon off in New Jersey, Carolina Hurricanes defensemen Jaccob Slavin and Noah Hanifin had the opportunity to tour the MLB and NHL Network studios and made an appearance on NHL Now.

Soon after walking into the building - now shared by both the MLB and NHL Networks after the league formed a digital partnership with MLB Advanced Media - you walk past a baseball card wall, which is literally a wall full of baseball cards from all eras.

One of the highlights of the trip was MLB Network's Studio 42, which features a replica turf field, padded outfield walls, an out-of-town scoreboard and even a "Hit the bull, win a steak!" sign over the left field fence. Here is where Slavin and Hanifn, joined by former Hurricanes and FOX Sports Carolinas host Michelle McMahon, Senior Director of Communications and Team Services Kyle Hanlin and yours truly, took in some wiffle ball batting practice.

While waiting to tape their NHL Now segment, Slavin and Hanifin checked out Studio 21, which hosts three daily MLB Network shows and resembles the exterior of a ballpark with its gates and brick façade.
It was then time to get mic'd up and head to the NHL Now studio to tape an interview segment with McMahon, Mike Johnson and Steve Mears.
