Ismond scores three goals as Kootenay downs Edmonton 4-2 in WHL matinee @NHLdotcom

EDMONTON - Jesse Ismond scored three goals and added an assist to lift the streaking Kootenay Ice over the struggling Edmonton Oil Kings 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in the Western Hockey League.

Max Reinhart had the other goal for the Ice (26-15-3), and also picked up an assist. Kootenay has won ten games in a row and is one victory away from tying the franchise record set from Jan. 2-29, 2005.

Cameron Maclise and Drew Nichol scored for the Oil Kings (10-24-11), who have lost eight in a row. Edmonton newcomer Mike Piluso, who came to the Oil Kings in a trade with Vancouver on Sunday, beat Nathan Lieuwen cleanly six minutes into the second but rattled his shot off the crossbar.

Torrie Jung stopped 31 shots for Edmonton, which went 1-for-4 on the power play. Nathan Lieuwen stopped 30 shots for Kootenay, which failed to score on its only man advantage opportunity.
