Islanders sign Leduc to entry-level contract

The New York Islanders on Monday agreed to terms with defenseman Loic Leduc on a three-year, entry-level contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Leduc, 19, had 15 points (six goals, nine assists) and a plus-13 rating in 63 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, splitting time between the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Rimouski Oceanic. Leduc was traded midseason and had two assists and a plus-9 rating in 11 playoff games with Rimouski.

Selected in the fourth round (No. 103) of the 2012 NHL Draft, Leduc has 31 points (nine goals, 22 assists) and 143 penalty minutes in 202 career QMJHL games.
