Islanders sign goalie Dubielewicz @NHLdotcom

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) -The New York Islanders brought back goalie Wade Dubielewicz, signing him Thursday after backup Joey MacDonald joined starter Rick DiPietro on the injured list.

Dubielewicz, an Islanders backup for four seasons, was signed with Ak Bars Kazan of the Continental League in Russia during the offseason. He must secure his official release before he can join New York.

Dubielewicz has an NHL record of 16-13-1-1 with a 2.55 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. He is best known for filling in for DiPietro in the final week of the 2006-07 season and winning four straight games to lift the Islanders into the eighth and final seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Islanders have been without franchise goalie DiPietro for most of the season and MacDonald was injured in the first period Tuesday night against the Rangers.

Until Dubielewicz arrives, the Islanders will use their third goalie in the system, Yann Danis, who took over against the Rangers after arriving earlier in the day from the Islanders' AHL team in Bridgeport, Conn.
