Islanders place defenseman Hickey on injured reserve

by Staff

New York Islanders defenseman Thomas Hickey was placed on injured reserve Friday, retroactive to Sept. 28.

Hickey is expected to miss four weeks because of an upper-body injury. Newsday reported the injury occurred when Hickey blocked a shot during the second period of the Islanders' preseason game Sept. 28 against the Washington Capitals.

Last season Hickey had two goals and 22 points while averaging 18:55 of ice time in 81 games.
