The Washington Capitals will be looking to avenge one of their few recent losses when they host the Philadelphia Flyers in the Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN1, TVA Sports).
The Flyers come to Verizon Center six days after Jakub Voracek's power-play goal in overtime gave them a 3-2 victory against the Capitals in Philadelphia. Since then, the Capitals have defeated the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche to improve to 13-1-4 in their past 18 games and move within five points of first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers lost to the Boston Bruins on Saturday before rebounding to rout the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-3 on Monday, but they're still scrambling to get back into the race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Philadelphia begins the night 11 points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
