Inside the matchup: Bruins vs. Capitals

NHL.com @NHL

The Washington Capitals know they'll be in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Boston Bruins can take a big step toward joining them with a victory in their Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TVA Sports) at Verizon Center.

The Capitals are trying to hold off the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan Division and home-ice advantage in the Eastern Conference First Round. The Bruins have won five in a row but are still scrambling simply to make the playoffs.

To win, the Bruins will have to solve Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby, who hasn't allowed a goal in Washington's two victories against Boston this season. He's stopped all 61 shots he's faced.
