Insam has winner as Niagara IceDogs trump Brampton Battalion 3-1 @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Marco Insam's third period goal lifted Niagara IceDogs to a close 3-1 victory over the Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

Johnson Andrews opened scoring for Niagara (25-33-7), while Alex Friesen added some insurance with an empty-net goal. The IceDogs have won three in a row.

Sam Carrick had the only goal for Brampton (24-27-14). This is the Battalion's third straight loss.

Battalion goaltender Patrick Killeen came out of the net to play the puck off a dump in but he fanned on his attempted outlet pass up the middle, leaving Insam with a wide open net.

Niagara answered quickly however, when Andrews cut inside the slot down low, tucking a backhand through Killeen's five hole at the 7:33 mark.

Mark Visentin was solid in goal for Niagara, turning aside 29 of 30 shots. Killeen made 22 saves in the Battalion net.
