Injured hip to keep Wild forward Gaborik from world championship @NHLdotcom

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Marian Gaborik has a hip injury that will keep him from playing in the IIHF World Hockey Championship for Slovakia next month.

The Minnesota Wild said Thursday its star right winger will undergo further medical consultation before a decision is made on how to treat the injury.

The Wild issued a brief news release Thursday afternoon that revealed Gaborik has a "hip deficiency attributable to overuse."

After a career-best 42 goals during the regular season, Gaborik did not score in the first-round playoff series against the Colorado Avalanche. He is entering the final year of his contract.
