Injured Bruins forward Campbell doubtful for opener

by Staff

Boston Bruins forward Gregory Campbell is considered doubtful for the season opener Oct. 8 against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Campbell (core injury) skated on his own Thursday morning and was downgraded from questionable by coach Claude Julien.

The Bruins are still waiting on medical clearance to determine whether forward David Pastrnak can play in either of their final two preseason games, Friday against the New York Islanders and Saturday against the Detroit Red Wings.

"I'd like to see him play and see how he handles an NHL game," Julien told the Bruins website. "Hopefully I get the news that we all want sometime today."

Forward Patrice Bergeron didn't practice Thursday, but that was termed a day off by Julien.
