DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Atlanta goaltender Ondrej Pavelec has returned to practice for the first time since collapsing barely two minutes into the Thrashers' opener and hitting the back of his head on the ice.
The 23-year-old Pavelec lost consciousness and suffered a concussion on Oct. 8 when he fell in the scary incident, which doctors labeled as a fainting spell. He spent two nights in an Atlanta hospital for observation before being released. He later returned for another round of tests that were negative.
The Czech Republic native participated fully in the first 30 minutes of the hour-long practice on Tuesday, facing shots from teammates without issue. He needs to get back in game shape before being ready to come off the injured list and there is no timetable for his return.
