Capitals' Ovechkin goes for record vs. Red Wings
Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin can set an NHL record for goals by a Russian-born player Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. Newly-inducted Hall of Famer Sergei Fedorov, who had held the record by himself until the other night, will be honored by the Red Wings in a pregame ceremony.

Injury to keep Canadiens' Price out remainder of week
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is expected to miss one more week because of a lower-body injury, coach Michel Therrien said Tuesday. Therrien said surgery would not be necessary and would not divulge any details on the nature of Price's injury.

Red Wings' Datsyuk could make season debut Friday
Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk may debut Friday against the San Jose Sharks, coach Jeff Blashill told the Red Wings website Tuesday. Datsyuk, 37, had surgery to repair ruptured tendons in his right ankle June 26. The prognosis was for him to return sometime in the middle of November.

Blackhawks' Keith cleared, could play this weekend
Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith could return from a knee injury this weekend, coach Joel Quenneville said Tuesday. Keith, who has been cleared for contact in practice, skated on his own Tuesday at United Center and will be a full participant in practice Wednesday.

Blue Jackets look for first home win, host Canucks
John Tortorella will take a second crack at his first home win since becoming Columbus Blue Jackets coach against the previous team he coached, the Vancouver Canucks. Tortorella is far less concerned about trying to beat the Canucks, whom he coached to a 36-35-11 record in 2013-14 before being dismissed, than getting the first home victory of the season for the Blue Jackets.
