Hurricanes place Semin on IR, activate Bellemore

Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and defenseman Brett Bellemore was activated off IR, the team announced Thursday.

Semin missed the game Monday against the New Jersey Devils and did not practice Wednesday. Coach Bill Peters told the Raleigh News & Observer that Semin also has soreness in his wrist that required offseason surgery.

Semin has a goal and five assists with a minus-9 rating in 21 games.

Bellemore, who missed seven games with a lower-body injury, has three assists and is plus-1 in 13 games.
