The Carolina Hurricanes placed defenseman Justin Faulk on injured reserve Friday with an upper-body injury. The move is retroactive to Monday.

Faulk was injured in a 4-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. Hurricanes coach Bill Peters said Tuesday that Faulk would miss at least the next three games (the third Saturday against the Washington Capitals) and he is week to week.

Faulk, 24, has three goals and three assists in 11 games and leads the Hurricanes in ice time per game (24:10). He had 16 goals and 37 points last season, including a Carolina-high 12 power-play goals.
