PITTSBURGH (AP) -Carolina Hurricanes winger Scott Walker left the ice late in the second period of Friday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins because of an apparent head injury.
While skating to the bench during a stoppage in play, Walker appeared woozy and fell to his knees. A stretcher was brought out and play was delayed for several minutes with 2:34 left in the second period and the Hurricanes leading 3-1.
Walker ultimately skated off slowly with the aid of team personnel.
While the cause of his injury wasn't immediately known, Walker did take an elbow to the head from Penguins forward Jarkko Ruutu in the first period.
After Walker was taken off the ice, the Penguins scored twice in the next 2 minutes, 28 seconds.
