RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Hurricanes agreed to terms with defenseman Tim Gleason on a four-year, $11 million contract Thursday, and acquired the rights to winger Darcy Hordichuk from Nashville.
Gleason will make between $2 million and $3.5 million over the four seasons. The Hurricanes acquired him in 2006 in a trade that sent highly touted defenseman prospect Jack Johnson to Los Angeles.
Carolina sent a conditional fifth-round pick in next year's draft to the Predators for Hordichuk, an unrestricted free agent. If Carolina fails to sign him before the season, Nashville will send a fifth-round pick in the 2010 draft as compensation.
