Believe it or not, the 28-year-old defenseman leads the entire American Hockey League in points with 29 (nine goals, 20 assists) through 23 games. Before his call up to the Blues on Thursday, Hunt was in the midst of a four-game point streak - scoring four goals and five assists in that span with the Chicago Wolves.
"He's had an awesome year. He's a smart player, and we felt in exhibition he can play games for us," Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock said before Friday's game. "We're comfortable putting him on the ice. I know this is the NHL, but when you're having the success he has and the confidence he has - you always say if the guy was a little bit bigger he'd be a full time player, we'll he's one of those guys. I don't think he's going to miss a beat for us. He's smart, he's got great hockey sense and I think he can come in and help us."
Hunt has 10 multiple-point performances this season with the Wolves and has been held without a point in only four games this season. He signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Blues in July after previously spending three seasons in the Edmonton Oilers organization, playing in 21 career NHL games.
