Howard's 31 saves help Red Wings defeat Bruins @NHLdotcom

Jimmy Howard made 31 saves to help the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-1 victory against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on Monday.

Drew Miller and Tomas Jurco scored for Detroit in the second period, and Andreas Athanasiou scored 48 seconds into the third period.

Boston forward Loui Eriksson scored a power-play goal with 51 seconds remaining to end Howard’s shutout bid.

Tuukka Rask played the entire game for the Bruins and made 21 saves on 24 shots.

Detroit was 0-for-3 on the power play; Boston was 1-for-5.
