Hounds remain unbeaten at Esso Cup with OT win over Rockets @NHLdotcom

REGINA - Meagan Vestby scored her second goal of the game in overtime as the Notre Dame Hounds beat the Moncton Rockets 4-3 Tuesday at the Esso Cup women's midget hockey championship.

The unbeaten Hounds, based in Wilcox, Sask., lead the round-robin standings with a 3-0 record. Brienna Gillanders and Brooke Wilgosh also scored for the Hounds, who scored two goals in the third period to send the game to overtime.

In other Esso Cup action, Thunder Bay beat Richelieu 5-1 and Regina edged Edmonton 2-1 in overtime.

Becky Bowes had two goals and an assist for Moncton (1-2), while Schyler Campbell also scored.

Tamber Tisdale made 21 saves for the Hounds while Meagan Blacquiere stopped 32 shots for the Rockets.

Queens 5 Remparts 1

Michela Cava, Brianna Iazzolino and Kaitlyn Tougas all scored within two minutes of each other midway through the first period as Thunder Bay downed Richelieu.

Kaitlyn Tougas ended up with two goals and an assist, while Courtney Tougas also scored for Thunder Bay (2-1).

Genevieve Bannon scored the lone goal for Richelieu (0-3).


Rebels 2 Thunder 1 (OT)

Brooklyn Moskowy scored in overtime to lead the host Rebels over Edmonton.

Andrea Ehrmantraut scored in regulation for Regina (2-1).

Stephanie Zvonkovic replied for the Thunder (1-2).
