Hope carries Attack to 6-5 OT win, to extend playoff with Rangers @NHLdotcom

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - The Owen Sound Attack staved off elimination in their Ontario Hockey League first-round playoff series with a 6-5 overtime win over the Kitchener Rangers on Wednesday.

Kyle Hope salvaged the season for Owen Sound with his second goal of the game 5:49 into extra time.

Kitchener, which leads the Western Conference quarter-final 3-1, sent the game to overtime when Cody Sol scored the equalizer at 19:01 of the third period.

Tobias Rieder scored twice for the Rangers, with his second goal cutting Owen Sound's margin to 5-4 in the final period.

Zach Lorentz and Andrew Crescenzi also scored for Kitchener.

Zach Nastasiuk, Daniel Zweep, Chris Bigras and Daniel Catenacci scored for the Attack. Catenacci's goal was short-handed, and gave Owen Sound a 5-3 lead in the third period.

Scott Stajcer made 36 saves for the Attack, while Franky Palazzee and John Gibson combined to stop 39 shots for the Rangers.

Kitchener hosts Game 5 on Friday.
