KENNEWICK, Wash. - Patrick Holland had a goal and an assist and was the game's first star as the Tri-City Americans defeated the visiting Everett Silvertips 3-1 on Saturday in Western Hockey League playoff action.
Adam Hughesman and Mason Wilgosh also scored for the Americans while Brendan Shinnimin chipped in with two assists.
Ryan Murray scored the lone goal for the Silvertips.
Ty Rimmer made 17 saves for the win while Kent Simpson stopped 33 of 36 shots in a losing effort.
Tri-City got all their offence from the power play, going 3 for 8, while Everett failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
The Americans now hold a 2-0 series lead with Game 3 to take place this Tuesday in Everett.
