Holland record his first WHL hat trick as Americans defeat Thunderbirds 3-2 @NHLdotcom

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Tri-City rookie Pattrick Holland record his first WHL hat trick Friday night, scoring the game winner with 4:31 remaining as the Americans defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-2 at Toyota Center.

Holland, who had goals in the first and second periods, finished his hat trick on the Americans' only shot of the third period.

Alex Pechurskiy finished with 32 saves for the Americans. Pechurskiy, a 2008 fifth-round pick of Pittsburgh, will be on the bench for the Penguins in Vancouver on Saturday to play backup to John Curry.

Starting goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is out with a fractured left ring finger.

Tri-City (33-11-0-1), which also got two assists from Justin Feser, kept a firm hold on first place in the U.S. Division, leading second-place Portland and Spokane by 11 points.

Seattle (14-24-3-4) got goals from Burke Gallimore and Jeremy Schappert, and 21 saves from Calvin Pickard
