Hodgson scores twice while short-handed as Brampton beats Peterborough 5-1 @NHL

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Cody Hodgson had two short-handed goals and two assists to lead the Brampton Battalion past the Peterborough Petes 5-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday.

Jason Dale and Kenny Peroff had a goal and assist each for the Battalion (33-14-1-1), winners of nine straight games, while Matt Duchene also scored. Hodgson's first short-handed goal 7:55 into the third period sparked a four-goal outburst and proved to be the winner.

The Battalion moved within four points of the Belleville Bulls for top spot in the Eastern Conference.

Ryan Spooner had the lone goal for the Petes (20-30-0-2), losers of three in a row.

Jason Missiaen made 44 saves in a losing cause while Patrick Killeen picked up the win with 18 saves.
