Hodgson scores three as Battalion trounce Greyhounds 6-1 @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Cody Hodgson registered a hat trick as the Brampton Battalion routed the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 6-1 on Thursday night in OHL action.

Hodgson led Team Canada in scoring at the recent world junior hockey championships in Ottawa, piling up 16 points in six games.

Matt Duchene, Sam Carrick and Evgeny Grachev also scored for the Central Division-leading Battalion (26-14-1-1), winners of two straight games.

Jamie Haines had the lone marker for the Greyhounds (16-25-2-1).

After a scoreless first period, Hodgson put the Battalion up early in the second, with a pair of power-play markers 1:25 apart.

Haines brought the Greyhounds to within one before Duchene re-established the two-goal margin before period's end.

Greyhounds backstopper Cody St. Jacques gave up six goals on 30 shots, while Thomas McCollum turned in a solid performance for the Troops, turning aside 20 of 21 shots.
