BRAMPTON, Ont. - Cody Hodgson completed his third hat trick of the season by scoring the overtime winner as the Brampton Battalion edged the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Hodgson also added an assist. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick scored his 20th goal in 23 games 55 seconds into overtime to give Brampton (21-8-1-0) its first win in December. The Battalion began the month with two straight losses after only losing once in November.
Ken Peroff had a goal and an assist while Matt Duchene also scored for Brampton. Jason Dale added three assists.
Cameron Gaunce had a goal and an assist for the Majors (12-14-1-1). Jordan Mayer scored midway through the third period to send the game to overtime, and Devante Smith-Pelle and Blake Parlett added goals.
Brandon Foote made 29 saves for the Battalion. Mississauga netminder Chris Carrozzi allowed five goals on 42 shots. He was replaced by J.P. Anderson for two minutes in the second period. Anderson stopped two shots.
