BRAMPTON, Ont. - Cody Hodgson scored three goals and added an assist, setting up Anthony Peluso's winning tally 0:54 into overtime as the Brampton Battalion edged the Peterborough Petes 5-4, taking a 2-0 series lead in their Ontario Hockey League Eastern Conference quarter-final series.
Brampton outshot the Petes 64-13 but needed overtime to finish them off despite having a 4-2 lead after two periods. Jason Missiaen was a busy netminder in a losing cause, making 59 saves on the afternoon.
"We played a solid game today," said Hodgson, who has three goals and five assists in two playoff games. "I have to give the Petes credit though, they battled hard."
Evgeny Grachev added a goal and two assists for the Battalion. The Russian rookie has three goals and four assists in the series so far.
Brett Theberge, Pat Daley and Zach Harnden countered for Peterborough, with Harnden netting a pair, including the tying goal with less than five minutes remaining in the third period.
The Battalion now head to Peterborough for games three and four, to be played Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
"I love that rink," said Hodgson, "the boards have a different bounce to them that's for sure. It's always a good atmosphere over there."
