Hockey Hall of Famer Jim Gregory in serious condition after heart attack @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Hockey Hall of Famer Jim Gregory is in critical condition after suffering a heart attack in the NHL's Toronto office.

The league's senior vice-president of hockey operations had the heart attack on Thursday afternoon, according to He is in intensive care at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto.

The 73-year-old Gregory was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder in 2007 after spending more than five decades in professional hockey.

His first NHL job was as a scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He later served as the team's general manager from 1969 to 1979.

Since then, he's held various roles with the league - spending seven years as the director of central scouting before moving to the hockey operations department.

Gregory has also served as chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame's selection committee since 1998.
