Hitmen within one win of WHL final after beating Wheat Kings 4-3, take 3-1 series lead @NHLdotcom

BRANDON, Man. - A three-goal second period put the Calgary Hitmen within one win of the Western Hockey League final Wednesday.

Kris Foucault scored twice as the Hitmen beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final.

Ian Schultz and Tyler Fiddler also scored for the Hitmen, who erased a 2-0 first-period deficit with their outburst in the middle frame.

Alexander Urbom, Toni Rajala and Brenden Walker scored for the Wheat Kings.

Calgary netminder Martin Jones made 34 saves, while Andrew Hayes stopped 20 shots for Brandon in his first start of the series.

The series resumes Friday in Calgary.
