CALGARY - Kyle Bortis scored twice to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 9-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in a battle of undefeated Western Hockey League playoff teams.
Kris Foucault and Paul Postma each notched a goal and two assists for the Hitmen, who jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven Eastern Conference championship series against the Wheat Kings.
Both teams had won eight straight games through the first two rounds to qualify for the Eastern final.
Joel Broda had a goal and an assist for Calgary, while Alex Plante, Bostjan Golicic and Tyler Fiddler also scored. Michael Stone, Chase Schaber, Carson McMillan, Brandon Kozun and Brett Sonne chipped in with a pair of assists each.
Andrew Clark, Nathan Green and Brayden Schenn scored for Brandon, while Aaron Lewadniuk had a pair of helpers.
Calgary goalie Martin Jones made 18 saves to improve his record to 9-0 in the playoffs. Andrew Hayes started the game for Brandon and stopped 10 of 15 shots he faced before being relieved by James Priestner, who finished the game with 16 saves.
