Hitmen advance to WHL Eastern final with 4-1 win over Wheat Kings @NHL

CALGARY (CP) - Derek LeBlanc had a goal and an assist to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 4-1 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings in Western Hockey League post-season action Sunday night.

With the win, the Hitmen ousted the Wheat Kings from the playoffs and now advance to the WHL Eastern Conference final against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Brodie Dupont, Carson McMillan and Steve Covington also scored for the Hitmen, who won four straight to take the series.

Playing his first game of the playoffs after recovering from a separated shoulder, Jeff Topilko scored the lone goal for Brandon in the first period.

Calgary goalie Dan Spence stopped 18 of 19 shots he faced to improve his post-season record to 8-5. Brandon netminder Tyler Plante made 33 saves in a losing cause.
