Hiller, Bennett help Flames defeat Canucks

Sam Bennett and Micheal Ferland each scored in the first period to give the Flames a 2-1 lead.
Jake Virtanen scored at 4:29 of the first to give the Canucks a 1-0 lead.
Sean Monahan and Michael Frolik extended Calgary’s lead to 4-1 with second-period goals. Flames defenseman Dennis Wideman had two assists.
Vancouver goalie Jacob Markstrom made 13 saves on 14 shots in 28:09 before being relieved by Richard Bachman, who had 15 saves.
Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller made 25 saves.
The Flames were 1-for-8 on the power play; the Canucks were 1-for-2.
