Hickey agrees to four-year contract with Islanders

29-year-old defenseman had five goals, 25 points for New York last season @NHLdotcom

Thomas Hickey agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the New York Islanders on Sunday. Financial terms were not announced.

The 29-year-old defenseman became an unrestricted free agent after finishing with 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) and a plus-20 rating in 69 games with the Islanders last season.

The Los Angeles Kings selected Hickey in the first round (No. 4) of the 2007 NHL Draft. He has 111 points (22 goals, 89 assists) in 409 NHL games, all with the Islanders, who claimed him on waivers Jan. 15, 2013. He has six points (one goal, five assists) in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
