Henry has two points as Giants advance to WHL semifinals with win over Portland @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - James Henry had a goal and an assist as the Vancouver Giants advanced to the Western Hockey League Western Conference final with a 3-1 victory over the Portland Winterhawks on Tuesday night.

The Giants won the best-of-seven series 4-2 and open the conference final Friday night in Kennewick, Wash., against the Tri-City Americans.

Branden Gallagher gave Vancouver the lead with a short-handed goal 8:02 into the game, but Nino Niederreiter converted on the power play 31 seconds later to even the score.

The Giants scored of a pair of man-advantage goals of their own to seal the series, with Brandon Scholten restoring the lead at 7:25 of the second period, and Henry adding another midway through the third.

Mark Segal made 32 saves to earn his seventh win of the post-season, while Mac Carruth stopped 26 shots in net for the Winterhawks.
