New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is considered day-to-day, according to coach Alain Vigneault.

Lundqvist won't dress Friday against the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, SNE, SNO, SNP, MSG2, CSN-DC+). Antti Raanta will start.

Lundqvist was having neck spasms during the second period of a 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

"I don't think it's anything serious," Vigneault told the Rangers website after the game.

Goaltender Magnus Hellberg on Friday was recalled from Hartford of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis, the team announced. He will back up Raanta.

"We're going to need Raanta to be good tonight," Vigneault said. "That's the best team in the League this season we are playing."

Lundqvist was pulled after the second period against the Penguins. He allowed three goals in a span of 1:39 late in the second and did not return to the bench for the third period.
