Heard scores twice to lead the Whalers over the Storm 7-5

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Mitchell Heard scored twice, including the game winner, as the Plymouth Whalers defeated the Guelph Storm 7-5 on Saturday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Andy Bathgate, Garrett Muers, Rickard Rakell, Dario Trutmann and Alex Aleardi also scored for Plymouth (19-8-3).

Zack Mitchell led Guelph (12-11-4) with two goals and an assist while Cody McNaughton, Brock McGinn and Stephen Gaskin added singles.

Scott Wedgewood made 27 saves for the win as Brandon Foote stopped 35 of the 41 shots he faced in the loss.

The Whalers went 1-for-4 on the power play while the Storm scored once on five opportunities with the man advantage.
