Hayes and Jenks lead Plymouth to shootout victory over the Generals @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Ryan Hayes and A.J. Jenks both scored shootout goals as the Plymouth Whalers edged John Tavares and the Oshawa Generals 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.

Tavares scored his league-leading 14th goal with three minutes remaining in the second period to tie the game at 3-3. That score stood through the third period and overtime despite 15 shots from the Generals and 11 from Plymouth. Tavaras also added an assist to bring his point total to 23 in 13 games so far this season.

Kaine Geldart, R.J. Mahalak and Jordon O'Neill scored in regulation for the Whalers (5-5-1-0).

Michael Del Zotto had a goal and two assists and Brett Parnham also tallied for Oshawa (6-6-0-1).

Matt Hackett stopped 28 shots and was perfect in the shootout for Plymouth, while Generals netminder Daryl Borden made 31 saves.
