Haydar scores twice as Griffins beat Bulldogs 4-1 to take 3-2 series lead @NHLdotcom

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Darren Haydar scored twice for Grand Rapids as the Griffins beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-1 Friday in their American Hockey League North Division semifinal series Friday.

Tom Galvin and Jakub Kindl each added a goal and an assist for the Griffins, who took a 3-2 series lead.

Mike Glumac scored the lone goal for Hamilton, which only managed 15 shots on Griffins goaltender Jimmy Howard.

Marc Denis stopped 30 shots for the Bulldogs.

Both teams had trouble staying out of the penalty box. The Griffins were 2-for-8 on the power play while Hamilton was 1-for-5.

The series returns to Hamilton on Sunday for Game 6.
