The Chicago Blackhawks
will be without defenseman Jordan Hendry
for the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
"Jordan injured his left knee (Sunday) during a collision into the boards and has sustained an ACL tear," Blackhawks Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement released by the team. "He will undergo reconstructive surgery shortly and we anticipate a full recovery in approximately six months."
The 6-foot, 197-pound Hendry had 1 goal in 37 games this season, his second full NHL season.
The Blackhawks currently are hurting for depth on defense, as Duncan Keith
and Niklas Hjalmarsson
are banged up and the team lost Nick Boynton
on waivers to the Philadelphia Flyers
To address that issue, the Blackhawks earlier Monday acquired defenseman Chris Campoli
, as well as a conditional 2012 seventh-round draft pick, from the Ottawa Senators
in exchange for forward Ryan Potulny
and a 2011 second-round pick.
