Hawks and Coyotes tie OT record @NHLdotcom

The Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes settled things in overtime. Again.

For the fifth straight game in this Western Conference Quarterfinal series, the Blackhawks and Coyotes needed more than regulation to determine a winner. Chicago defenseman Nick Leddy erased a 1-0 deficit midway through the third period at Arena after Gilbert Brule broke a scoreless tie early in the second.

In overtime, Jonathan Toews won a faceoff, ran down the puck and beat Phoenix goalie Mike Smith with a shot under the crossbar 2:44 into the extra period.

It marks the first time a series has seen the first five games reach overtime since the Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens in the 1951 Stanley Cup Final. The Coyotes lead the best-of-seven series, 3-2.
