A dominant first period helped the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies extend their winning streak.
Tyler Hawes scored twice as the Huskies held on for a 4-3 win over the Val-d'Or Foreurs in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Tuesday night.
Hawes and Dylan Quaile scored first-period goals as the Huskies (14-5-2-1) outshot the Foreurs 16-2 in the opening period. Pier-Luc Champagne added a goal in the second as Rouyn-Noranda won its fourth straight.
In Tuesday's other QMJHL game, it was: Halifax 6, Lewiston 4.
At Val-d'Or, Que., Brad Marchand had a goal and two assists in a losing cause for the Foreurs (10-9-1-2), who have dropped three in a row. Pascal Boutin added a goal and an assist while Maxime Levesque also scored for Val-d'Or.
Guillaume Blouin stopped 18 shots to earn the victory for Rouyn-Noranda.
Raffaelle D'Orso made 27 saves in a losing cause for the Foreurs.

At Lewiston, Maine, Peter-James Corsi had a pair of goals as Halifax ended a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Maineiacs.
Andrew Bodnarchuk, Logan MacMillan, Daniel Smith and Yuri Cheremetiev each added singles while Pier-Olivier Pelletier turned aside 18 shots for the Mooseheads (12-3-0-4).
Alexander Beaton, Tom Michalik, Stefan Chaput and Lucas LaBelle countered for Lewiston (12-8-1-0), which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end.
