Hannan leaves game after taking stick to face @NHLdotcom

DENVER (AP) -Colorado Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan had his face bloodied when he was struck by the stick of Los Angeles' Brad Richardson in the first period of Wednesday night's game.

Hannan stayed down for a moment, then lifted up his head, blood dripping to the ice near the Avalanche goal. Hannan was helped to the bench while holding a towel over his face.

Richardson drew a double minor for high sticking.

Hannan stayed in the dressing room for the remainder of the first period, but returned to the ice midway through the second.
