Hammond stops 40 shots as Senators come from behind to beat IceCaps 2-1

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Andrew Hammond turned away 40 shots as the Binghamton Senators came from behind to defeat the visiting St. John's IceCaps 2-1 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Matt Puempel tied the game for the Senators (39-21-5) 7:29 into the third period with a power-play goal and then assisted on Shane Prince's winner at 10:51.

Jason Jaffray gave the IceCaps (41-22-4) a 1-0 lead at 16:59 of the second period. Tyker Beskorowany stopped 38-of-40 shots in defeat.

Binghamton went 1 for 3 on the power play while St. John's failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.
